Realweltlich gesehen, ist dies Glenn Yarbrough, ein amerikanischer Folk-Sänger, der zu den beiden Rankin/Bass-Zeichentrickfilmen die Musik geschrieben und den Großteil der Lieder auch gesungen hat.
Das erwähnte Lied ist das Titellied des Hobbit-Zeichentrickfilms, mit dem der Vorspann des Films eingeleitet wird und dsa sich, ähnlich wie Frodo of the Nine Fingers in The Return of the King, immer wieder im Film findet. Der Text ist in seiner vollen Gänze wie folgt:
